How to Make Chicken
Baked chicken is a healthy way to enjoy this poultry dish. Here are some easy steps to follow on how to make chicken using the baking method.
- Begin by preheating the oven to 350 degrees.
- If you are using a whole chicken, remove all the giblets from the cavity of the bird. If you are using chicken breasts, trim off excess fat.
- Rinse the chicken under cool water and pat dry with paper towels.
- Season the chicken to your taste. You can use salt and pepper or a salt free seasoning blend.
- Place the chicken in a roasting pan or a large baking dish.
- Rub the chicken with olive oil. This will give the meat crispness and a golden color. You can also use a homemade or store bought marinade instead.
- You are now ready to bake the chicken. You will bake a whole chicken for 1 to 1 ½ hours, depending on the size of the bird. If you are using chicken breasts, it should take 30-45 minutes, depending on the size of the breast and if there is a bone inside.
- You will want to make sure the chicken is thoroughly cooked before serving it. Using an internal meat thermometer, check for a temperature of 180 degrees. If you are using a whole chicken place the thermometer in the thigh, which is the thickest part. With a breast, place the thermometer in the thickest part of the meat.
- Cut into the chicken's thickest part using a knife. If the chicken is no longer pink and juices run clear, the meat is done. Simply remove from the oven and serve.
